EU‘S EASTERN PARTNERSHIP RECEIVES ATTENTION AT THE XX ECONOMIC FORUM IN KRYNICA
On 9 September, at the XX Economic forum in Krynica (Poland), Lithuania’s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Evaldas Ignatavičius attended a debate “The Eastern Partnership: an Effective Mechanism or a Conditional Support Model?“.
Ukrainian Parliament member Boris Tarasyuk, member of the Parliament of Armenia Vahan Hovhannesyan, Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the European Union Emin Eyyubov and member of Italian Parliament's Committee on EU Policies and Foreign Affairs Lapo Pistelli also presented their points of view during the debate. Vice Prime Minister of Georgia Giorgi Baramidze was a guest of honour at this event.On 8 September in Krynica, E.Ignatavičius met with G.Baramidze and reiterated Lithuania‘s support for Georgia's European and Euro-Atlantic integration aspirations. Participants of the meeting focused on the EU-Georgia relations, stressed the importance of the first round of negotiations on the Association Agreement, the importance of preparation for these negotiations and Lithuania‘s support to Georgia on this issue.
On 8 September in Krynica, Lithuania‘s Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs also participated at a debate “European Energy Solidarity – Myth or Reality?” on the integration of European energy system. E.Ignatavičius noted that in the future the common European energy space should also include the EU Eastern Partnership countries (Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine).
