Honoring the memory of the soldiers and insurgents of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania who died in the Battle of Kobyłka in 1794
On October 26, Ambassador Valdemaras Sarapinas of the Republic of Lithuania to the Republic of Poland, Defence Attaché Col. Remigijus Mika and Deputy of the Defense Attaché Col. Lt. Darius Kalėda paid tribute to the soldiers and insurgents of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania who died in the Battle of Kobyłka in 1794 at the cemetery in the town of Kobyłka near Warsaw.
The event was attended by the authorities of Kobylka and Wołomin County, representatives of youth and public organizations, the church, city residents and the Lithuanian Army Honor Guard.
The Battle of Kobylka, which took place on October 26, 1794, between the Grand Duchy of Lithuania army units and Polish insurgents and the Russian army, was the penultimate battle of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania army. During the battle, about 450 soldiers were killed and about 850 were taken captive. According to historians, the battle ended in the area of the present-day town of Zielonka, where a memorial stone stands. After the defeat, the remaining units of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania retreated to Warsaw, where they participated in its defense.
