The 35th anniversary of the Restoration of Lithuania's Independence and the 150th anniversary of the birth of M. K. Čiurlionis were celebrated in Toruń on 14 March 2025. The event took place at the Congress and Cultural Centre “Jordanka” in Toruń, where the Toruńska Orkiestra Symfoniczna and the State Choir “Vilnius” under the direction of conductor Dainius Pavilionis performed the symphonic poem "In the Forest" and the cantata "De profundis" by M.K. Čiurlionis. The works of other composers, such as M. Karłowicz, K. Kurpiński, R. Šerkšnytė, M.K. Ogiński and S. Moniuszko, were also performed for the audience. Before the concert, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, Mr. Šarūnas Birutis, welcomed the guests and stressed that “Culture is one of the most important diplomatic bridges that connects people and nations".
The concert was followed by a reception, where the Ambassador of the Republic of Lithuania to Poland H.E. Mr. Valdemaras Sarapinas, welcoming the guests thanked Mr. Paweł Gulewski, President of the City of Toruń, Mr. Piotr Całbecki, Marshal of the Province of Kuyavia-Pomerania and Mr. Przemysław Bańkowski, Honorary Consul of the Republic of Lithuania in Kuyavia-Pomerania, for organizing the events dedicated to the Restoration of Lithuania's Independence and expressed his appreciation for the growing cooperation between the regions of the two countries. The celebration events were attended by the delegation of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Lithuania, headed by Minister Mr. Šarūnas Birutis, representatives of the administration of the Kuyavia-Pomerania Region and the City of Toruń, educational, cultural and business institutions as well as members of the Lithuanian community.
