Lithuanian president Gitanas Nausėda presented state decorations to meritorious Polish citizens
During the ceremony at the Lithuanian Embassy in Poland, the Crosses of Officer of the Order for Merits to Lithuania were bestowed by President Gitana Nausėda upon Marian Turski and prof. Bogdan Witold Szlachta, the Cross of Knight of the Order for Merits to Lithuania – upon Adam Pomorski and the Commemorative Medal of 13 January – upon Jacek Stanisław Podwysocki.
Marian Turski is a Holocaust survivor, the chairman of the Museum Council for POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews, an active promoter of the culture, heritage and history of Polish and Lithuanian Jews, and an advocate of the name of Lithuania in Poland and Israel.
Prof. Bogdan Witold Szlachta is the head of the Department of Political Philosophy at the Institute of Political Sciences and International Relations of the Jagiellonian University in Krakow and the patron of Lithuanian students at the Jagiellonian University in Krakow.
Adam Pomorski is the president of the Polish PEN Club, essayist, translator of works by Lithuanian writers and promoter of Lithuanian literature in Poland.
Jacek Stanisław Podwysocki is a former deputy mayor of the Praga-Południe district, who in 1991 contributed to the establishment of the Lithuanian Information Bureau in Poland.
