LITHUANIA’S FOREIGN MINISTER EXPRESSED HIS CONDOLENCES OVER THE TRAGIC DEATH OF POLAND'S DELEGATION TO THE POLISH MINISTER OF FOREIGN AFFAIRS

On 10 April during a telephone conversation with Polish Foreign Minister Radosław Sikorski, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Audronius Ažubalis expressed his deepest condolences over the tragic death of Poland’s President Lech Kaczyński, the President’s wife and the delegation that accompanied the President near Smolensk.

Minister A.Ažubalis conveyed his heartfelt condolences to the nearest relatives of the victims and wished them endurance.

The Polish Foreign Minister thanked the Minister and said that he was deeply shocked by the unexpected tragedy that befell the people of Poland.

On 10 April, Lithuania’s Minister of Foreign Affairs sent a letter of condolence to R.Sikorski.

“This is a great tragedy for Poland, its people and entire Europe. Lithuania has lost a head of the neighboring state, loyal ally and good friend. This is also a loss of Europe’s prominent politician, who was particularly well aware of Poland’s responsibility for the security and stability in our region and its future,” the Minister writes in the letter of condolence.
