President extends congratulations to the President of Poland on national holiday

Sunday, May 4, Vilnius – The President of the Republic of Lithuania Valdas Adamkus extended congratulations to the President of the Republic of Poland Lech Kaszynski and all people of Poland on the occasion of their national holiday, the Constitution Day.

“The Constitution of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth adopted on 3 May 1971 marked a spiritual and moral revival and once again sent a message to the entire world of the historical aspirations of the two sibling nations, Lithuania and Poland, to foster their statehood traditions”, President Adamkus wrote in his letter of congratulations.

“It is pleasing to see that the principles of freedom and democracy enshrined in May 3rd Constitution still unite our nations today. Guided by these principles, we strive to strengthen our strategic partnership, create a solidarity-driven European and Transatlantic area, join our efforts to help implement these principles in Eastern Europe neighbouring states”, Lithuania’s President continued in his letter.

“I deeply believe that the spirit of May 3rd Constitution and Lithuanian-Polish strategic partnership will lay a solid base for the two peoples to build and implement their future”, wrote President Adamkus.

Lithuania’s President wished every success to his Polish counterpart and many years of well-being and prosperity to all people of Poland.
