The 105th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw is commemorated

On August the 14th, Minister Plenipotentiary, Deputy Head of   Mission Audronė Markevičienė and Deputy Defence Attaché, Lt. Col. Darius Kalėda participated in the commemoration of the 105th anniversary of the Battle of Warsaw in 1920 at the Markai City Cemetery, during which they laid a wreath at the monument dedicated to the memory of the soldiers who died in this battle. Representatives of the Polish President and Government Chancelleries, members of the Seimas and Senate, representatives of the Masovian Voivodeship, the Markai City Government, and local residents attended the Holy Mass for the defenders of the capital and the ceremony of honoring the victims of the battle at the Markai City Cemetery. The battle that took place in the Markai area on August 13–25, 1920, was a decisive episode in Poland's struggles with the Bolsheviks, during which the Polish army achieved victory over the Red Army and stopped the expansion of communism into Western Europe.
