The concert of solidarity with Ukraine ,,Voices of freedom: for Resilience and Peace“
On December 15, the event ,,Voices of freedom: for Resilience and Peace“ organised by the Embassy of Lithuania, Ambasada Łotwy w Polsce - Latvijas vēstniecība Polijā, Ambasada Ukrainy w Rzeczypospolitej Polskiej/Посольство України у Польщі took place. It was dedicated to the resilience and unbreakable spirit of the Ukrainian people, the unity of the three nations, as well as the significance of culture as the basis of national identity.
This evening brought together representatives of diplomatic corps accredited to the Republic of Poland, government officials and cultural figures, who enjoyed performances by distinguished artists from three countries:
a string quintet and clarnetist from “NADIIA” Ukraine Symphony Orchestra NUSO Kharkiv, Lithuanian pianist Prof.Aleksandra Žvirblytė, Latvian pianist Andrejs Osokins, Latvian mezzo-soprano Ieva Parša.
The event also highlited the current situation of the youth orchestra NADIIA. Having found a new home in Poland in 2022, the musicians have since given more than 250 concerts thanks to a scholarship provided by the Polish Ministry of Culture and National Heritage. However, with the funding program having ended, the orchestra is no longer able to perform at full capacity, and the preservation of the orchestra as an institution has become increasingly difficult.
The Embassies not only demonstrated solidarity with Ukraine, but also emphasized the need for continued support for this exceptional orchestra while its members await a safer time to return home.
