The Honorary Consulate of Lithuania reopened in Toruń

On the 13th of March the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Egidijus Meilūnas and the Ambassador of Lithuania to Poland Eduardas Borisovas officially opened the honorary consulate of the Republic of Lithuania in Toruń.

A businessman Przemysław Bańkowski has been appointed Honorary Consul, who is authorized to perform the functions of Honorary Consul in the entire Kujavia Pomeranian Voivodeship.

During the opening ceremony of the Honorary Consulate, Deputy Minister Egidijus Meilunas praised the successfully developing relations between Lithuania and Poland specifically  between Torun and Kaunas and emphasized the importance of the strategic partnership between Lithuania and Poland in the context of today's geopolitical events.

"The best response to the Russia‘s aggressive intentions is the unity and solidarity of our countries and support for Ukraine, which is fighting Russia's brutal aggression."

The Honorary Consulate in Toruń has been operating since 2006. In April 2022 after the sudden death of the honorary consul, the activities of the consulate were suspended.

There are currently ten honorary consulates of Lithuania operating in Poland.

On the 13th of March in Toruń the 5th anniversary of this city's partnership with Kaunas was celebrated.
