The Lithuanian Prime Minister and the Polish President: the EU Should Act Unanimously in the Gas Conflict
Today the visiting Lithuanian Prime Minister Andrius Kubilius met with Polish President Lech Kaczynski and discussed the Ukraine-Russia gas crisis and bilateral energy issues.
The Polish President and the Lithuanian Prime Minister expressed a strong belief that the provisions on energy security embedded in the Lisbon Treaty on the Lithuanian and Polish initiative would help find solutions to similar crises; both Ministers also hoped to see the ratification of the Treaty in the near future.
Lech Kaczynski expressed a firm Polish support to the common Lithuania-Poland energy and transport infrastructure projects and encouraged the Governments of both countries to pass over to the implementation phase as soon as possible, especially regarding the construction of a new nuclear power station and the power bridge between Lithuania and Poland.
